Bank Street Widening Project

After years of planning and consideration, the Bank Street Widening Project has officially moved forward in the Findlay Creek community. The scope of this project will cover south of Leitrim Road to Blais Road.

This project will: 

  • Expand Bank Street from 2 to 4 lanes. 

  • Add protected design features to signalized intersections.  

  • Enhance streetscaping, implement cycle tracks and sidewalks to support active transportation.  

  • Improve bus shelter locations and loading zones.  

  • Match existing infrastructure with new community growth.  

Construction Staging

End of 2025 Update

Work completed to date:

  • The new watermain and storm sewer through the project limits were installed and commissioned.

  • Bank Street has been widened from two to four lanes from south of Blais/Miikana roads to Findlay Creek Drive, including the centre median.

  • Permanent modifications have been made to the following intersections:

    • Bank Street and Blais/Miikana roads

    • Bank Street and Shuttleworth Drive

    • Bank Street and Findlay Creek Drive

  • New sidewalk has been installed on the east side of Bank Street from south of Blais/Miikana roads to Findlay Creek Drive, and on the west side of Bank Street from Findlay Creek Drive to north of White Alder Avenue.

  • New streetlights have been installed from Blais/Miikana roads to Findlay Creek Drive.

  • The new sanitary forcemain has been installed on Findlay Creek Drive and through the Bank Street and Findlay Creek Drive intersection.

Planned work in 2026:

  • Complete the installation of the new sanitary forcemain from north of the Bank Street and Findlay Creek Drive intersection toward the Leitrim Road intersection. 

  • Install the new sanitary sewer from south of the Bank Street and White Alder Avenue intersection toward the Leitrim Road intersection.

  • Road reconstruction and widening of Bank Street from Findlay Creek Drive to south of theLeitrim Road intersection.

  • Permanent modifications to the following intersections:

    • Bank Street and White Alder Avenue/Analdea Drive

    • Bank Street and Rotary Way

    • Bank Street and Findlay Creek Drive

  • Install the remaining sidewalks and cycle tracks on Bank Street through the project limits.

  • Complete the widening of Findlay Creek Drive west of the Bank Street intersection, including dual left turn lanes onto Bank Street, new cycle lanes and new centre median.

The City of Ottawa has scheduled a public information session on Tuesday, February 10 from 6pm to 8pm at Fred Barrett Arena to share an update on the project’s progress and planned work for 2026.
